What is recurrent miscarriage?

Two or more consecutive pregnancy losses warrant a structured evaluation — genetic, anatomical, hormonal and immunological.

Recurrent pregnancy loss is distressing and often goes unexplained because the evaluation stops at the obvious causes. A genetics-led workup frequently adds information.

What we assess

  • Parental karyotype for balanced translocations
  • Genetic analysis of products of conception where available
  • Uterine anatomy on high-resolution ultrasound
  • Thyroid, glucose and prolactin status
  • Antiphospholipid antibodies and thrombophilia where indicated
  • Carrier screening in consanguineous couples

This page is general information and is not a substitute for a consultation. Every pregnancy is assessed individually.
